Western Australia Wayzgoose 2024

Western Australia Wayzgoose, our annual one-day celebration of letterpress and printmaking is happening on Saturday 8th June. Everyone is welcome! No printing experience required.

This year, guest speakers include 3 TAFE letterpress artists in residence - Dominique Coiffait (sharing about his printmaking journey), Janice Law (sharing about her graphic design and art practice), and Vanessa Wallace (sharing about her art practice, in particular artist's books). We also have Lionel, a former Sydney Government Printing Office stereotype operator who will be sharing about life working at one of the largest general print houses in the southern hemisphere.

In the afternoon, we will have letterpress and printmaking workshops. Dominique will be conducting a linocut taster workshop. Phil Gambrill of Fresh Lemon Print is running a wood type poster workshop. We will be printing specimen sheets using TAFE's newly purchased wood type of one of Western Australian typographer Daniel Veneklass's typefaces. We will be playing with the Blockface modular stamping system for an activity too.

We also have "Retrospective of Sorts", an exhibition of artworks by past TAFE artists in residence in Bright Press, and the opening event is on Saturday 8th June and begins at 4pm just after the official Wayzgoose event ends.
