2026 is the Year of the Fire Horse in the Lunar calendar (2026 Lunar New Year begins officially from 17th February).

Bright Press has collaborated once again with fellow Asian Australian artist Ophelia Roberts of Banksia Creative and we have created letterpress printed red envelopes (also known as red packets, hongbao, ang bao, or laisee) featuring a hand-drawn illustration of a horse surrounded by flames and a decorative border.

Red envelopes are normally filled with money and are given as a blessing to others. During Lunar New Year celebrations, red envelopes are given by senior married members of the family to younger and single members of the family. Red envelopes are also given by employers, managers, and bosses to their staff members.

If you are being gifted a red envelope, don't forget to wish the giver of the envelope "Gong Xi Fa Cai" (May you become rich and prosperous!). May you gallop into a prosperous 2026 with confidence and strength!
